HCA Serves
The HCA Student Outcomes includes a section on Social Interaction and Global Engagement:
Purpose: The purpose of Social Interaction and Global Engagement is to train and develop appropriate God-honoring practices as it relates to social relationships, empathy, community, missions, and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ locally and around the world.
Heritage Christian Academy students will be encouraged to identify needs and then create, organize, and implement a variety of projects that will facilitate student programs that reach out to others.
External examples include "participation in student-led local outreach programs facilitated by teachers, parents, and other community adults.
Skills include "demonstrate knowledge of, appropriate respect for, and Christ-like compassion for all people, especially those that do not share the same race, gender, religion, socio-economic background, age, moral values, linguistic background or physical abilities.
In an attempt to help meet this outcome, HCA is challenging every student in grades 7-12 to actively seek to complete 10 hours of community service during the school year. This can be service that comes while you are serving with a group (youth group, class, team, etc.) or service that you are doing on your own. This should be service to someone outside your church/school community. So providing baby-sitting for a church event or helping clean up after a ball game at school would not be a part of this 10-hour challenge.
Please log your hours online at the Presidential Service Awards website. This provides an easy way for us to keep track of the hours that individual students are logging.

New Hope Presbyterian Food Pantry
At 9:00 a.m. on the 2nd Saturday of every month (weather permitting) a semi-truck drops off about 15 pallets of fresh produce to the parking lot at New Hope PCA. Then for the next two hours volunteers divide up the food and load it into vehicles. There are over 200 vehicles representing over 1000 individuals that begin lining up at about 4:00 a.m. It takes at least 30 volunteers in order for everything to run smoothly. This is a fun way to demonstrate your love for your neighbor. "Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, 'Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." (James 2:15-17)
Location: New Hope PCA at 13310 S. Black Bob Rd.
